Cycling the Tour de France route has been on my bucket list for quite some time. Now the opportunity has come to test myself for three weeks crossing Denmark, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Alps and Pyrenees, covering 3318km and 48670 meters of elevation gain. This will be a great challenge for me both physically and mentally.
This challenge also brings me to ask you a favor by donating funds to the Dutch ALS Foundation. The disease is affecting people close to me both in my private and professional life, witnessing the unbelievable impact it has while treatment is still unavailable. The foundation directs your contributions to great initiatives such as innovative clinical trial platforms improving patients’ quality of life. For example, the first patients have been enrolled into the MAGNET platform in which multiple treatments of ALS are investigated simultaneously. This means that patients not only have a bigger chance of receiving the experimental medicine instead of the placebo, but also that the time spent on placebo is kept as short as possible. Altogether, this allows for a rapid screening of new candidate treatments, while minimizing the burden for patients, and will speed up the process of finding a cure for ALS.
It would be great if you can help advancing these initiatives even further by donating through this website (iDeal, PayPal, Visa, etc). Thanks a lot for your donation in advance!
Ruben
